OPPO Reno11 F review: Reasonable performance, appealing design
Rating

In February 2024, OPPO launched their latest addition to the Reno 11 series: the OPPO Reno11 F. Positioned as the most budget-friendly option in the lineup, this new Android smartphone shares the same chipset as the regular Reno11 and the Reno10 from last year. The OPPO Reno11 F promises to deliver an elegant design, a large and beautiful display, fast charging capabilities, and a camera setup designed for taking beautiful portraits. Will it succeed in making a mark in the extremely crowded market of mid-range Android smartphones? And is it the right choice for you? Find out all that and more from this review:

OPPO Reno11 F: Who is it good for?

The OPPO Reno11 F is a good choice if you:

  • Are looking for a decent mid-range Android that doesn’t cost a fortune
  • Want a phone with outstanding autonomy and a battery that charges fast
  • Appreciate smartphones with fancy looks and elegant designs

Pros and cons

These are the things I like about the OPPO Reno11 F smartphone:

  • Appealing looks and youthful colors
  • 67W fast charging and long battery life
  • Large and bright screen with a fast 120 Hz refresh rate
  • Good performance in everyday activities
  • Generous storage space, and you can add a microSD card
  • Good main and selfie cameras
  • IP65-certified protection against dust and water

There are a few things that can be improved:

  • There are many alternatives at this price point with better performance
  • The ultrawide and macro cameras are disappointing
  • Too much bloatware
Product rating 3.5/5

Verdict

The OPPO Reno11 F is an intriguing Android smartphone with a fancy design and an impressive battery life. Its beautiful screen and fast charging support add to its appeal, but while the mid-range chipset delivers solid performance for daily tasks, it falls short in gaming. On a similar note, despite offering good main and selfie cameras, it disappoints when it comes to the quality of its ultrawide and macro cameras. Overall, it can be a suitable choice for people who value design and battery life more than anything else. Those who prioritize performance won’t have to search long to find better options at similar prices.

Unboxing the OPPO Reno11 F

The OPPO Reno11 F comes in a regular-sized box with a simple design. It’s made of strong cardboard, colored in white and glossy silver. The top of the box only shows the name of the phone, but on the bottom, you'll find a large sticker with information about the device.

The box contains the smartphone, a USB-A to C cable, a tool for ejecting the SIM card tray, a quick guide, and a safety guide. No case or fast charger is included, but the phone already has a screen protector applied.

Design and build quality

The OPPO Reno11 F looks nice and reminds me of the Reno10 I tried last year. It has a fancy design with a soft, velvety back that feels smooth to the touch. The back has two large rings for the cameras, sitting together with the flash on a shiny rectangle with curved edges.

The Reno11 F smartphone comes in three different colors: Palm Green, which feels sophisticated, Ocean Blue, which looks fresh, and Coral Purple, which makes me think about Disney princesses, to be honest. 🙂

The front of the smartphone is mostly taken up by a big 6.7-inch screen with thin borders all around. The screen is protected by double-reinforced Panda glass, which isn’t as tough as Gorilla Glass but is more affordable and helps keep the price of the Reno11 F down. The only other thing on the screen is a small notch at the top center where the front camera sits.

The OPPO Reno11 F's frame is made of plastic and has the same matte, velvety finish as the back. It looks nice and doesn’t gather fingerprints or smudges easily. There’s nothing else except the SIM/microSD card tray on the phone's left side.

On the right side, you’ll find the volume and power buttons. These are slim and have a smooth surface, yet they protrude slightly.

The top edge of the OPPO Reno11 F is devoid of any elements except for a small hole where a microphone is placed.

One good thing is that the OPPO Reno11 F has an IP65 rating, which means it’s protected against dust and can resist water up to a depth of 20 cm for 30 seconds.

The design of the OPPO Reno11 F is similar to that of the brand’s last year phones. The smartphone looks good and feels nice to the touch, and the only thing that’s prone to gathering dust and fingerprints is the shiny area where the rear cameras are placed.

Hardware specifications

Inside the OPPO Reno11 F, there’s a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset. It’s a mid-range SoC (System on a Chip) made with a 6-nanometer process that includes an octa-core CPU with two powerful Cortex-A78 cores running at 2.6 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0 GHz, along with a Mali-G68 MC4 graphics unit. This chipset is also found in the OPPO Reno10 and realme 11 Pro, and those phones showed good performance for everyday tasks and casual gaming. You can check the benchmarks section of this review to see how the OPPO Reno11 F compares to them.

The OPPO Reno11 F smartphone comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of fast UFS 3.1 storage space. As for how much storage you actually get to use, keep in mind that the operating system and preloaded apps take up almost 32 GB.

The OPPO Reno11 F is a dual-SIM smartphone, meaning that it can accommodate two nano-SIM cards at the same time and use them together in dual stand-by mode. If you don't need a second SIM card, you can put a microSD card in its place, in order to add more storage space to the phone.

The OPPO Reno11 F features a big 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with an FHD+ resolution of 2412×1080 pixels. It has a pixel density of 394 pixels per inch (ppi), a high 120 Hz refresh rate, and can show over 1 billion colors. Its typical brightness is 500 nits, which can go up to 900 nits in sunlight and reach 1100 nits (locally, in certain spots). Last but not least, it’s worth noting that it also supports HDR10+.

The OPPO Reno11 F features three cameras on the back and one on the front:

  • The main wide camera has a 64-megapixel sensor, f/1.7 aperture, and phase-detection autofocus (PDAF), but no Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).
  • The second one is an ultrawide camera with an 8-megapixel sensor, 112° field of view, f/2.2 aperture, and fixed focus.
  • The third camera is a macro camera with a 2-megapixel sensor, f/2.4 aperture, and fixed focus.
  • On the front, there's a 32 MP selfie camera with an f/2.4 aperture, but it doesn’t have autofocus.

Although none of the cameras supports OIS, videos you record in 1080p resolution with the main and selfie cameras benefit from EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization). It’s also worth noting that both the main and front cameras can capture videos at up to 4K resolution at 30 fps (frames per second).

In terms of connectivity, the OPPO Reno11 F works with LTE and 5G mobile networks. It also supports Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6 on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies. In some places, like the European Union, it has an NFC chip for contactless payments and data sharing. It also has an optical fingerprint reader under the display, plus all the standard sensors: geomagnetic, light, proximity, acceleration, gravity, gyroscope, and step counting.

The OPPO Reno11 F runs on a large 5000 mAh battery that should keep the phone going for at least one whole day before you have to recharge it. Moreover, the phone also supports 67W fast charging, but you'll need to get the charger separately. OPPO says the Reno11 F can fully charge in just 48 minutes, which is impressive. I’ll give you more details about this in the next section of the review.
