Huawei announces new variants for the P30 Pro, and the beta for EMUI 10

At IFA Berlin, Huawei has made many announcements, both for new chips that are going to be used in their future smartphones, and for new products. One unexpected move is that they also launched new color variants of their existing flagship - the Huawei P30 Pro. Here is how the new smartphones look, and when Huawei customers are going to get access to the new EMUI 10 user interface with Android 10:

Welcome to Huawei P30 Pro Misty Lavender and Mystic Blue

If you look at the two new Huawei P30 Pro variants from the front, you do not notice anything different, compared to the existing ones. Just the default EMUI theme is slightly different visually to match the color language of the new smartphones. You have to be a real connoisseur of Huawei's EMUI Android user interface to notice the difference.

The new color variants offer a two-tone design with a reflective look on the top side of the rear of the smartphone and a brushed metal effect on the bottom. The Misty Lavender variant is the best-looking of the two, and you can see it pictured below.

The Mystic Blue variant is good looking too, but maybe not as charming as the previous one. While photographing the two smartphones, we noticed that the matte texture on the bottom of the Huawei P30 Pro, below the camera module, is also fingerprint-resistant.

The Mystic Blue and Misty Lavender color variants of Huawei P30 Pro are going to be upgraded to EMUI 10 (that includes Android 10), and sales start from September 20th. Their pricing should not be different from existing color variants of the same smartphone. It is not clear at this time in which markets they are going to be available first.

From a hardware perspective, these smartphones do not bring anything new on the market. They are not upgraded to the recently announced Kirin 990 processor and use the "old" Kirin 980, like previous Huawei P30 Pro devices. If you want to see them in action, watch the promotional video below.

EMUI 10 beta is coming September 8th to many Huawei smartphones

During the same event, Huawei has also announced the availability of the EMUI 10 beta program for the Huawei P30 series, and other smartphones in its line-up. EMUI 10 is going to update Huawei users to Android 10. Alongside the new features developed by Google for this version of the operating system, it includes Huawei's improvements too:

  • Multi-screen collaboration between laptops with Windows 10 and Huawei's smartphones
  • A new color scheme called Morandi Palette, which harmonizes gentle textures with translucency to create a sense of tranquility.
  • An operating system-wide Dark Mode
  • The animation design has also been improved. Huawei has added an elastic touch, swiping trajectory and comfortable transition to deliver a smooth and natural experience when touching their smartphones and when interacting with them

The beta program should end sometime in November, and it is going to be followed by the official release of EMUI 10 and Android 10 to their smartphone customers.

What do you think of the new color variants?

We like the new additions to Huawei's existing color palette, which we found impressive since the original P30 Pros were launched. However, we are even more excited by the fact that EMUI 10 and Android 10 are coming soon to Huawei smartphone users. Before you close this article, tell us what you think about Huawei's announcement.
